Hassan Zakaria holds a Master of Philosophy degree in Development Studies and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Integrated Development Studies from the University of Ghana and University for Development Studies respectively. With professional certificates in Project Proposal Writing and Rural Enterprises Development, Hassan is particularly interested in the fields of program and project management; research – use of qualitative and quantitative methodologies; advocacy and community outreach strategy development; budgeting and resource mobilization.
Working on a number of USAID, World Food Program, MEDA, DFID, Global Fund for Children funded projects, Hassan has gained considerable insights and knowledge in the fields of “streetism” and girl-child education; agriculture for rural development; women, youth and PWD livelihood empowerment programs including financial inclusion projects such as VSLA; health, water and sanitation; child trafficking; local governance and accountability.
Currently working in the Office of the President and Vice-President at the Regentropfen College of Applied Sciences as Assistant Registrar, Innovation and Industrial Relations, Hassan seeks to employ his knowledge of program and project financing to bring in major financiers to the University College, by so doing, creating multiple income streams and increasing visibility. Hassan has equally served as an Acting Registrar of the University College (July – October 2023), and Acting Head of Business Development from February 2023 to date.
Besides writing an editorial in the Herald on: Fuelling Tensions after Otumfour’s Statement Must Stop – Group Demands; and a publication on: “Impact of Generative AI in Academic Integrity and Learning Outcomes: A Case Study in the Upper East Region”; Hassan has worked on the underlisted unpublished long essays and dissertations/thesis at the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree levels:
1. The determinants of parent’s choice of basic school: A comparative study of private and public basic schools in the Tamale Metropolis (M. Phil. thesis).
2. The effect of basic education subsidies on household’s welfare in the Yilo Krobo District of the Eastern Region (MA dissertation).
3. Project proposal reflecting the problems, needs, aspirations and solutions to the problems in Mandari in the Bole District of the Northern Region (TTFPP Field Work).
4. The economics of the capitation grant: A case study of the Tamale Metropolis and Tolon/Kumbungu districts of the Northern Region (unpublished BA long essay).
