REGENTROPFEN COLLEGE OF APPLIED SCIENCES, ReCAS 4TH CONGREGATION AND 5TH MATRICULATION
Regentropfen University College, (ReCAS), a private degree awarding institution located in Kansoe in the Upper East Region of Ghana, often described as “the Light of the North” held its 4th Congregation and 5th Matriculation on the 20th of November, 2021. This year’s event was also part of the 5th anniversary celebration of the Institution, which got its institutional accreditation in April 2016. It thus witnessed the presence of founding members (the steering committee that managed affairs until the award of institutional authorization through the then NAB). A representative of the Upper East Regional Minister also graced the occasion. It was yet another milestone for the students, Staff and Council of ReCAS as they celebrated the 5th matriculation and 4th congregation.
The Vice President of ReCAS, delivered a heartwarming address on behalf of the President, Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya SVD. She eulogized the College without any equivocation, especially in the area of its impact on the job market. “We train students in heart and in hand to be able to deliver knowledge that their community deserves”. Prof Agnes Atia Apusigah went to encourage the graduands to be the change that the world is looking forward to. She went on to urge the students to make use of the opportunities available to enable them in order to contribute meaningfully to their communities and globally. She said ReCAS currently runs degree and diploma programmes in Agriculture for Social Change, Computer Science, Accounting, Basic Education and Business Administration. The University is also undertaking certificate courses in Radio Broadcast Journalism, Small Business Development and Promotion, NGO Management and Health Analytics. She mentioned the latest addition to the ReCAS family which is ReCAS FM to serve the College community and its environs.
The College Council Chairman, Mr. Mensah Seneadza said that Management of ReCAS has given its best in equipping students with the highest form of education with skills and knowledge that will make them problem-solvers. According to him, they are to become great intrapreneurs who capture opportunities and provide services whilst making profit sustainably as enshrined in the philosophy of ReCAS. Mr. Seneadza added that, the focus of ReCAS is to be there for the human who wants to be developed for the good of humanity. He admonished graduands to showcase such traits in all aspects of their lives.
The Pro Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Prof Felix Kofi Abagale administered both the matriculation and graduation ceremonies on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of the University for Development Studies, Tamale.
In his address he noted that the task of setting up a (University) College in this part of the world and the country is very challenging and perseverance is the key to success in whatever we do. Further to that he said that the journey that ReCAS has travelled so far is a path to success. He acknowledged that, despite the challenges that the College faced so far, it is still achieving success in terms of expansion, graduate output as well as giving back to society.
Prof. Abagale paid special tribute to the College by saying that despite the challenges of COVID-19, the College, given its nature as a private tertiary institution, has shown resilience. He thus extended his heartfelt commendations to the College for the strides.
He asked Management of the College to continue to ensure that the health and wellness of the students and staff remains paramount in their delivery process. He again Said UDS was so proud of ReCAS for emulating its mother institution in terms of academic excellence and, therefore, promised the unflinching support of UDS to its affiliate, ReCAS.
Speaking to ReCAS FM later on, the College Council Chairman, Mr. Seneadza shared his reactions on the ground-breaking event and also on the current happenings around the country. He commended the Management of ReCAS and said, ” My heart is always here! I was actually born in the North and I am quite conversant with the terrain”. He added that, he has been greatly inspired by the vision of the founding fathers and mothers of the College especially the president and founder of ReCAS Rev. Fr. Dr. Moses Asaah Awinongya SVD for his exceptionality. He stated, ” Sometimes when you are doing a great thing, people will push you forward, and whoever climbs a good tree is pushed forward”. Hence, he deems it fit contributing to the success of the College.
Awards were given to students whose performance were outstanding. Mr. Azieve Seraphim bagged the overall best student award as well as the President’s award for innovation and creativity. Ms Emelia Abena Afeadi was the recipient of this year’s Prof. Agnes Atia Apusigah’s Best Female Student Award of the 2021 graduating class.
