LEGAL & ETHICAL ISSUES IN COMPUTER SCIENCE

This course focuses on privacy, intellectual property, computer crimes, evaluating and controlling technology, professional ethics and responsibilities. The course also explores the social impact of information technology in different areas of human life such as: Internet, information flooding, and the computerized world: Business, Medicine, Law, Entertainment, E-commerce and Communications.

This course provides an introduction to the ethical and social issues sparked by the ever-growing information society at the local and global level. This course examines the ethical impact of information systems and related technology to the world of work.

Course Policy

Attendance is expected in all class meetings, if you have an emergency; contact your instructor before the class begins. Lateness to class would not be accepted, if you are to be late; the maximum time is 15mins after the start of the class otherwise you would not be allowed to attend the class for that day. Active participation is very paramount, it would either bump up or down your grade. If you are absent from classes for more than three (3) times in the semester, you will not be allowed to participate in the mid-semester examinations. =>Assignments should be submitted at due dates; any late submission attracts a penalty.
